Welcome!

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 604's web site.

Our troop was founded in 1951. During this post WWII year history was being made:

  • A peace treaty between Japan and the WWII Allies was signed;
  • the first commercial computer, UNIVAC, was unveiled and sold to the U.S. Census Bureau;
  • color TV was introduced with CBS broadcasting color in five cities;
  • the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution was ratified; and
  • much more, good and bad.

 Notable individuals who made Eagle Scout in this year included:

  • Roger B. Chaffee, Navy pilot and NASA astronaut;
  • James "Red" Duke, surgeon, host of his own medical TV series, and founder of Life Flight, a medical air transport service;
  • Michael Kahn, film editor who won the Academy Award for Saving Privat Ryan, Schindler's List, and Raiders of the Lost Ark;
  • William Henry Keeler, Cardinal Archbishop Emeritus of Baltimore;
  • W. Walter Menninger, physician and former head of the Menninger Foundation, the first group psychiatric practice; and
  • Sam Nunn, businessman and politician, Senator from Georgia;

Donating to Troop 604

Scouting in the United States has been helping boys and young men develop exceptional character and good citizenship since 1910. Boy Scout Troop 604 continues that tradition, but cannot do so without the help of our boys' parents, and other adults in our community. If you are interested in supporting our troop by donating or helping with fundraising efforts that support our troop's activities, please contact us. Please include "Interested in Supporting Troop 604" in the subject line of your message and e-mail to: Fundraising@Troop604Winthrop.org

Thank you for your support.
